While Sigma stole headlines earlier this week with its new 50-100mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art lens, it also announced a fast and affordable 30mm lens for Sony E and Micro Four Thirds lens mounts. The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens is the first truly affordable f/1.4 lens in the mirrorless market at just $339.
The new Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens is the full frame equivalent (for angle of view) of a 45mm lens for the Sony E mount APS-C cameras and a 60mm lens for the Micro Four Thirds shooters. It features a 9 element construction in 7 groups and a 52mm filter thread. The AF drive is a stepping motor designed to support video. It has a minimum aperture of f/16, a minimum focus distance of 11.8-inches and weighs in at 9.3oz.
The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary lens is expect to ship in March 2016. A dedicated lens hood is included in the box. You can pre-order it here at B&H Photo.
