Sony has announced the new PXW-Z150, which is professional 4K XDCAM camcorder that uses a 1″ sensor and will also capture 1080p video at up to 120 frames per second. The Z150 comes in at a modest price point of $3600 and features a 12x zoom lens that combines with the 20MP to offer a Clear Image Zoom feature with 18x zoom in 4K mode and 24x zoom in 1080p mode.
The Z150 has a built-in ND filter offering 1/4, 1/16 and 1/64 filtration options with the flick of a switch. The camera records to dual SD card slots in XAVC L (for 4K and HD capture), MPEG2 HD422 (offering a 4:2:2 color space) and AVCHD codecs. It also offers wireless streaming with built-in WiFi and wireless FTP file transfer.
The Z150 features both 3G-SDI and HDMI outputs. Additionally, there are two XLR audio inputs capable of delivering phantom power when needed. It has a fold-out 3.5″ LCD with 1.56M-dot resolution along with a 1cm OLED EVF at 1.4M-dot res.
