Sony Europe Unveils A68 A-Mount Camera

Just when you thought the Sony A-mount was going to die a slow and painful death, Sony Europe has announced the A68 SLT camera.

The Sony A68 features a 24MP APS-C format sensor with a sensitivity range of ISO 100-25,600. The A68 also features a 79-point AF system (including 15 cross-type points) with Sony’s 4D focus technology, which we also saw introduced in the A6000.

The A68 features a 460k-dot resolution 2.7″ LCD that will tilt both up and down for high and low shots. Additionally, it has a 1.44M-dot OLED viewfinder for more precise shooting or shooting in bright daylight situations.

The camera captures up to 8fps still images with continuous AF tracking and also captures 1080p video using Sony’s XAVC-S codec. It also uses sensor-based image stabilization with Sony’s SteadyShot INSIDE tech.

The Sony A68 resides between the Sony A58 and A77II cameras but only in Europe for €600 (body only) and €700 with the 18-55mm kit lens. As of yet, there appears to be no news of the A68 coming to the US. Perhaps we’ll see it’s official US launch at CES 2016 in a couple months…
