The Zeiss Otus 28mm f/1.4 lens is the showstopper lens at PhotoPlus 2015.This is probably the best wide angle lens that you can buy. Of course, there’s no official price tag on it yet but you can probably expect it to be in the $4,000 to $5,000 range, along with its Otus 55mm f/1.4 and the Otus 85mm f/1.4 siblings.
The Otus line is so unique with their hefty all-metal barrel and massive long-throw, rubberized focus ring. The big, yellow focus markings stand out like a sore thumb too.
It dwarfs my Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens next to it. The Otus 28mm weighs in at over 3lbs.
It’s a bit of big brick but it feels great in the hand. The focus throw is so smooth and precise.
The Zeiss Otus 28mm f/1.4 lens will be available for Canon EF (ZE) and Nikon F (ZF.2) mounts in the second quarter of 2016. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
