Atomos has dropped the price of its Ninja 2 HDMI recorder from $695 to $295. As Atomos continues to push its 4K product line out, these HD ProRes and DNxHR recorders are hitting bargain basement prices.
Just four years ago, we saw the Ninja released for $1,000. Earlier this year, Blackmagic announced its Video Assist HD-SDI and HDMI recorder for $500, which seemed like a heckuva bargain at the time. If were a betting man, I’d wager that this move by Atomos will put pressure on Blackmagic to drop its price of the Video Assist, which still hasn’t shipped.
You can find the reduced-price Ninja 2 here at B&H Photo.
Additionally, Atomos has dropped the price on both the Ninja Blade (HDMI recorder) and Samurai Blade (SDI recorder) falling from $995 to $495.
