Canon EOS M6 Continues to Expand Mirrorless Product Line

Canon EOS M6

The Canon EOS M6 is the technical successor to the EOS M3. As such, it appears that Canon is realigning its rather confusing EOS M product naming scheme to mirror (if you will) its DSLR product line.

After replacing the EOS M3, the M6 fits in the mid-range enthusiast segment between the EOS M5 (pro-ish) and EOS M10 (consumer). Accordingly, the M series echoes the 5D, 7D and 80D models in the DSLR lineup. The lower the number in the model name, the higher-end the product.

The EOS M6 borrows a great deal from the EOS M5 but sacrifices the built-in EVF, while making an optional EVF-DC2 electronic viewfinder to pair with the M6. The new DC2 viewfinder provides 2.36-million dots of resolution, while being both smaller and lighter the DC1 viewfinder that was available for the EOS M3.
