The Nikon Coolpix P900 has an incredible zoom range of 24-2000mm (equivalent) and has been a pretty hot camera as far as point and shoot cameras go. Its successor might just up the ante if a new Nikon patent application comes to fruition.
A recently-filed patent from Nikon Japan discloses a 4.4-440mm zoom lens, which would deliver a 35mm equivalent zoom range of 24-2400mm on the P900’s 1/2.3″ sensor.
If you aren’t familiar with the range of the P900’s lens, check out the below video, which gives a good demo of the kind of reach we are talking about.
Have you tried the P900? Would you be interested in an even longer reaching zoom lens?
