A conventional flashgun can be a useful tool for portrait photographers, but if you’ve ever struggled with harsh shadows and redeye you’ll know how difficult it can be to get the right look. How much power do you need? Do you want soft shadows or hard ones? And what direction should the light be coming from?
If you’re new to working with lights, or even if you’re an old hand, then continuous lighting can be especially helpful. Continuous lights are simply lights that stay on constantly. Flashguns and other strobes only output light when triggered, and have long recycling times, but continuous lights behave like a light bulb and enables you to see the effect of a light in real time as you reposition it and adjust its power. Rotolight’s newly announced Anova PRO offers the best of both worlds – the worlds first bi colour continuous LED light with built in flash sync (high speed sync capable) and shall be demonstrated at this workshop.

Rotolight, a specialist in continuous lighting systems, is offering you the chance to learn all about continuous lighting and try out its innovative NEO Bi-Colour LED system, winner of Best Continuous Lighting 2015, at a workshop and seminar hosted by the multi-award winning photographer and Sony artisan of imagery Jason Lanier.
Rotolight’s NEO system incorporates its AccuColour™ technology to deliver exceptional colour rendering (>CRI:95+), and fast, tunable colour on location thanks to its accurate colour temperature display (CCT).
The workshop will be held at the world-famous Pinewood Studios near London, home of the Star Wars and James Bond movies – and also home to the multi award-winning, family-run Rotolight.
The workshop runs from 10am to 5pm on Thursday 12 May and features both a morning session (10am to 1pm) and an afternoon session (2 to 5pm).
During the three-hour sessions you’ll see live hands-on demonstrations, learn how to use Rotolight’s LED lights to capture stunning images of a model with your own camera and have the chance to meet Jason – a US-based photographer who’s becoming an internet sensation for his workshops, Youtube videos and blog. You’ll be able to ask Jason questions, and get invaluable tips on improving your photography.
Sessions will consist of a two-hour photographic masterclass and workshop by Jason, one hour of live ‘hands-on’ demonstration of Rotolight lighting with a model, as well as exclusive ‘on the day’ special offers and discounts on Rotolight’s many different lighting solutions, including the NEO! Aree buffet and drinks will also be provided throughout.
“Rotolight is quite simply the most amazing, beautiful, versatile portable continuous lights I’ve ever used,” says Jason. “I couldn’t recommend them more highly and think that anyone who shoots portraits, weddings, or fashion photography should own multiple sets. They are also perfect for me and my videography team for our video camera lighting purposes. They are stunning lights”
