The G-Speed Studio XL arrays have made a lot of noise as a dedicate pro storage solution. They offer up to 8 bays for 3.5″ hard drives, along with G-Drive ev Bay adapters and a RED Mini-Mag Reader.
G-Technology had its new G-Speed Shuttle XL on hand at a CES press event for preview. The G-Speed Shuttle XL features a case that is designed for field use and more portability than the Studio XL models.
It still has 8 bays like the Studio XL and can be configured in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and 50 arrays. Models are available that ship with two ev Series Drive Bays for easily mounting your ev Series drives into your Shuttle XL.
Dual Thunderbolt 2 ports allow it to easily be inserted into your Thunderbolt daisy chain of up to six devices.
They aren’t necessarily cheap though with prices starting at $3300 for an 18TB configuration that ships with six 3TB drives and a pair of ev Series Drive Bays. You can also go all the way up to a 64TB option for $8k that includes eight 8TB drives pre-configured in RAID 5.
It looks like most of these models are now in stock and ready to ship here from B&H.
