Sony has launched the a6300, its latest entry-level mirrorless camera which boasts what Sony claims is the world’s fastest AF speed among interchangeable lens cameras equipped with an APS-C-size sensor.
Chief among the new Sony camera’s features is a 4D FOCUS system that the company says can lock focus on a subject in as few as 0.05 seconds. What’s more, it boasts 425 phase detection AF points – the highest of any interchangeable lens camera.
What’s more, enhanced tracking and focus accuracy are all available on all of the α6300’s 425 AF points when using A-mount lenses with a mount adaptor like the Sony LA-EA3.

In addition, the Sony α6300 introduces a new high-density tracking AF technology that Sony saysimproves subject detection and tracking performance by activating a large number of AF points around a subject. The camera will then adjust them according to the subject’s motion.
Other improvements on the α6300 include silent shooting functionality, the ability to use AF in focus magnifier mode, expanded flexible spot AF, Eye AF in AF-C mode and more.
Inside the new Sony camera is a newly developed 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor, along with a BIONZ X image processor that combine to offer a native ISO range of 100 to 51,200.

Another signature feature of the Sony a6300 is that it can shoot and record internal 4K video with full pixel readout. The camera uses the XAVC S codec, which records at a high bit rate of 100 Mbps during 4K recording and 50 Mbps during HD recording. AF speed and tracking are also adjustable in these modes.
Sony says the a6300 can also record Full HD videos at 120fps at 100 Mbps, another first for APS-C-size interchangeable lens cameras.
The Sony α6300 camera is Wi-Fi and NFC compatible and compatible with Sony’s PlayMemories Mobile app.
The Sony a6300 price tag will start at €1,250 body only and €1,400 with SELP1650 lens. UK pricing is yet to be confirmed, and a release date is set for Europe in March 2016. The α6300 will also be available as a kit with the SEL1670Z lens in April 2016, priced at approximately €2,250.
