While at CES 2016, I stopped by to see some new products from G-Technology, which makes great storage products that plenty of photographers love. One of the upcoming products that will be on store shelves later this year is a new portable drive with a USB-C port.
The G-Drive mobile Type C, as it will be called, adds the new USB-C port to its popular line of G-Drive mobile portable hard drives.
The new G-Drive mobile Type C will feature a 1TB 7200RPM drive inside and will be exclusive to the Apple Store. With few other computers really pushing USB-C at the moment, it makes sense to see these sold alongside the new MacBook, which features a USB-C input, and additional models released this year are likely to sport the new USB-C port as well.
It will be available in the common aluminum silver color, as well as the gold color option to match the new MacBook models.
No pricing info was available yet but I suspect they will be a bit of premium (due to the new port usage) over the current 1TB G-Drive mobile USB drives that feature a standard USB 3.0 port and currently run about $100.
