I stopped by Olympus’ meeting room at CES 2016 (no Olympus booth this year), to get a closer look at the new M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4 IS PRO lens. I was able to try out a preproduction unit for a few minutes with the Olympus OM-D E-M5 II. In short, it is an impressive addition to Olympus’ line-up.
For the amount of reach you get with this lens at f/4 on a Micro Four Thirds camera, it is going to be a sweet lens at $2499.
It has a built-in lens hood that slides out from the compact position and offers a solid amount of flare protection from the front element.
It’s definitely light enough to handhold; however, the reach that it provides means you are going to get your best results when it is secured on a tripod or monopod.
The M.Zuiko Digital ED 300mm f/4 IS PRO lens ships next month for $2499. You can pre-order it here at B&H Photo.
