Nikon has launched two new DX-format 18-55mm standard lenses at CES 2016 in Last vegas.
The AF-P DX NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR – price £199.99/€259.00 – and the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G – £149.99/€199.00 – are the first NIKKOR lenses to employ Nikon’s new Stepping Motor.
Aimed at videographers, Nikon’s Stepping Motor promises to focus quietly and faster when zooming into a scene and shift focus from subject to subject with no drive noise.
The AF-P DX NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G VR lens body weighs in at 205g, while the AF-P DX NIKKOR 18–55mm f/3.5–5.6G weighs 195g, and both new Nikon lenses retract when not in use.
The new Nikon lenses also employ two aspherical elements to help minimise spherical aberration and other forms of distortion.
Nikon says sales of its new standard lenses will start in February.
