At this price, it comes in at the normal price of the Scarlett Solo; however, the balanced audio outputs on the 2i2 will ensure that you eliminate annoying hum when coupled with monitors that have balanced inputs.
I’ve used the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 for a little more than a year on a Mac Pro and it works great driving a pair of KRK Rokit 5 monitors for video editing. I’ve also used it for the occasional audio capture for voiceover and foley. It’s a solid device with great quality for both input and output.
I replaced an Avid M-Box for which Avid failed to update the drivers when Yosemite hit and made it a useless box for Mac users. Focusrite skews toward the Mac audience (but works perfectly fine with Windows too) and they generally stay on top of OS X updates and compatibility, which is one of the main reasons I’m personally picking up a second one of these units at this sale price.
