G-Technology has released several new products in its Evolution series of storage solutions. The new products include include the G-DOCK ev Solo, ev Series Reader for RED Camera users, G-SPEED Studio XL with two ev Series Bay Adapters, and an ev Series FireWire Adapter.
G-SPEED STUDIO XL with two ev Series Bay Adapters
We actually got a first-look at the ev Series Bay Adapters for the G-SPEED STUDIO XL earlier this year at NAB 2015. Now, G-Technology has released a G-SPEED STUDIO XL that comes with two ev Series Bay Adapters.
The configuration allows uses to have 6 bays filled with 3.5″ hard drives that are configurable in RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, & 10, while also having two removable ev Series bays available for using any ev Series hard drive or other ev-compatible device like the new RED MINI-MAG reader (below).
A RAID 5 configuration of the 6 remaining drives will still give you data rates in the 1GB/s range, while leaving two bays open in JBOD configuration with ev Bay Adapters in place.
The new G-SPEED Studio XL with two ev Series Bay Adapters will begin shipping in October. Pricing for 18TB is $2,799.95, 24TB is $2,999.95, 36TB is $3,999.95 and 48TB is $4,999.95.
ev Series Reader RED MINI-MAG Edition
The new ev Series Reader RED MINI-MAG Edition, as the name implies, will allow you to dock any RED MINI-MAG onto the G-SPEED Studio or G-DOCK ev docking station. It allows for convenient media ingest from the large media files that RED cameras generate.
The RED MINI-MAG reader retails for $199.95 and should be available in October 2015.
G-DOCK ev Solo
The G-Dock ev Solo is a $100, single drive dock for ev Series drives and accessories. With a USB 3.0 connection, the ev Solo can provide up to 400MB/s transfer speeds.
The G-Dock ev Solo should ship in October 2015.
ev Series FireWire Adapter
The ev Series FireWire Adapter allows you to connect the modern ev Series drives to a FireWire 800 port on a legacy computer. It features two FireWire 800 ports and allows daisy-chaining drives together.
The ev Series FireWire Adapter retails for $49.95. Check it out here at B&H Photo.
