Atomos Ninja Assassin is a Smaller, Lighter, Cheaper 4K HDMI Recorder

Atomos Ninja Assassin

Atomos has announced the Ninja Assassin SSD recorder, which is designed specifically for DSLRs and mirrorless cameras to capture 4K video from the HDMI output.

The Ninja Assassin boasts the screen size, resolution and scopes of the premium Shogun model, but forgoes the 12G/6G/3G-SDI connectivity, RAW recording functionality, in-built conversion, Genlock and balanced XLR audio connections.

Compatible cameras that support 4K output to the Ninja Assassin include the Sony A7s, A7RII, Canon XC-10 and Panasonic GH4. Expect this list to grow in the coming months as more and more cameras offer clean HDMI output at 4K resolution. Of course, it will also capture a variety of HD resolutions and frame rates.
