Last week we got back from our adventure to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for World Cup 2014. We’re still trying to catch up on sleep, and Max is still waking up on Rio time (4am, ouch!). But more than anything, we still have Rio on the brain. This city really stole our hearts. Here’s a quick peek at some of our shots!

For now, a little look at Rio through our lens…
We stayed right across the street from the famous Copacabana beach This was the view out our window. It was an absolute dream spot. And as a little bonus, we were a 15 minute walk away from the equally famous Ipanema beach. We were certainly spoiled for beaches…
And we took full advantage of it – heading down to the water almost every day. In Rio life happens on the beach, so there was never a lack of things to do, buy, eat, or watch.
Max even managed to snag some delightful beachside naps, with the sounds of the waves lulling him to sleep.
When it came to food, Rio exceeded our expectations. We almost never ate a bad meal, and had our fair share of incredible treats. Churros and popsicles on the beach, and fresh coconut and fruit juices were some of our favourites.
We went to Rio for the World Cup, and had fun getting into the spirit of the tournament. While things didn’t turn out the best for our adopted team, Brasil (to put it mildly) we still had a blast.
It’s also hard to complain when you have a view of Copacabana and Sugarloaf Mountain out your window while you watch the final game, taking place only about 12 km away.
We also spent some time as tourists, strolling around Rio and taking in the sights. There was no lack of photographic opportunity, as interesting scenes were around every corner.

Before we had even left, we were already making plans to return. We’ve been to a fair number of cities around the world, but something about Rio really stuck with us. It combined what we loved about so many places, in one beautiful package. If you get a chance to visit, don’t hesitate. And make sure to try the açaí juice!
